Take Some Time for Yourself

We have to take care of ourselves first before we can take care of others.
We like to think we can take care of everyone all the time but if we're being honest...that's not realistic. Not just that but the thought that if we take care of everyone else it will ensure that we will be loved all the more and appreciated by those around us. Little by little the realization sinks in that being that focused on others needs before our own is unhealthy. It can also lead to hurt feelings or even feelings of unworthiness.
Real Talk
You have to take care of yourself first because only when you are at your best can you take the best care of an other. A classic example is of any airline flight where the attendant goes through the safety procedures in case of an emergency. They always instruct us to place the oxygen mask over ourselves first, then assist others. What help could we be to someone else if we pass out half way through the process?

Whether you're a stay at home mom/dad, working mom/dad, single, in a relationship, bad ass boss, whatever kind of person you are, you have to be able to get some "me time". You need to have balanced meals and the physical activity you need. Taking time out to do these things for yourself is crucial to your own well being and sanity.

It seems too often that we take on too much all at once. Especially to the benefit of others. We can be everything and anything we want but in good measure. Good measure means not taking on so much that we are overwhelmed. Paying attention to our bodies and taking care of them when they give us signs of stress or malnutrition and not being so hard on ourselves when we can't serve everyone all the time. Saying no is also crucial. And don't feel guilty for saying no. You have to look out for you first cause chances are no one else is going to do it for you. That's not negative talk it's just being real.

So the next time you second guess taking your "me time" or think you're being "selfish", please remember that you are human and we all have our limits. All we can do is Eat well, Rest well, Live well and Help others as often as we can but never forgetting ourselves in the process.
Let me know your favorite me time routine or activity & thanks as always for reading this.
